Corey Crossman and Chris Campbell earn a national award for their efforts to make London a music city.

An effort to make London a “music city” has earned two locals a high-profile, national award.

Chris Campbell, director of culture and entertainment tourism at Tourism London and Cory Crossman, London’s music industry development officer won Music Canada’s 2017 presidents award on Tuesday.

“It was a huge honour,” said Campbell.

“It’s really a testament to the city, city council, and tourism London [for] giving us the ability to do our jobs and to do things a little differently than we’ve done in the past.”

Music Canada cites London’s completion of its first-ever music census, modernizing its noise bylaws for outdoor patios, and hosting Country Music Week all played a factor into the award.
