Calgary police are investigating following an early morning shooting that sent two people to hospital.
Emergency crews were called to the 300 block of Falconridge Cres. N.E. around 4 a.m. Sunday.
When they arrived on scene, they found one man in his 20s and one woman in her late teens suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital in serious condition.
Staff Sergeant Asif Rashid said that the shooting doesn’t appear to be random.
“Of course, anytime there is gun play in the community, that is of acute concern to the Calgary Police Service and to the community at large,” said Rashid. “Preliminary indications are that this was a random attack.”
Brett Doore was shocked to find out that two people were shot outside his front steps. He’s lived in the community for a year and said he’s concerned because he has young children.
“It just sounded like firecrackers,” Doore said of the shooting. “I didn’t know that someone got shot right in front of our house … so it’s pretty scary.”
No arrests have been made, and police are still searching for suspects.
Rashid said that officers will be speaking with the victims once their conditions improve.
