The Calgary Police Service’s (CPS) homicide unit was called in Saturday morning after a man was found in distress in the 4600 hundred block of Bowness Road.
According to EMS, a man in his 40s was transported to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds where he later died from his injuries.
Calgary police said one person was interviewed as part of their investigation.
Acting Staff Sgt. Kevin Dyrgas said police were canvassing businesses and whatever witnesses they could that would have been in the area at around 5:30 a.m.

“We’re talking to the businesses in the area and the witnesses at the scene.”
For 12 years, Sandra Craft has lived in an apartment across the street from where the man was found.
Craft explained she’s used to there being traffic in the area, but what she heard Saturday morning left her feeling scared.
“I heard this terrible bang… sounded like a gunshot,” Craft said. “I heard a woman’s voice, there was a couple of voices, quite loud.”
Police confirmed that a female was taken to CPS headquarters for questioning, but the relationship between her and the victim was unknown.
“The public has no reason to be concerned at this point,” Dyrgas said.
He added that an autopsy would likely take place early next week and until then, there wasn’t any more information on the victim or suspects in the case.
