Arrest made in weekend stabbing in Surrey involving family members

A suspect has been arrested and charged following a stabbing in the Clayton Heights area of Surrey Friday evening.

Rafey El Saadi, 24, has been charged with one count of an attempt to commit murder. Police tracked Saadi to a local hospital shortly after the stabbing.

The incident happened at a home in the 18700 block of 64th Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday.

Surrey RCMP confirmed in a release that the stabbing was targeted and involved members of the same family. Police would not confirm the exact relationship between the suspect and the victim.

The victim has since been released from hospital and is recovering from his injuries, police said.
