Investigators say the alleged offences occurred while Belzil was off duty and that he remains in custody pending a bail hearing today in Hamilton.

In accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario, Belzil has been suspended with pay pending further investigation.

Police say that because the matter is now before the courts, no further comment or details will be provided.
