It’s championship weekend in Gananoque for the Hydroplane Racing League.
The Nickle Cup series concludes on Saturday and Sunday with season-ending heats to determine a champion for 2017.
Race spokesperson Chris McCarney says the racing this weekend will be intense because the standings are extremely close in all four classes of competition.

McCarney adds “the weather forecast is calling for perfect conditions and the drivers are looking forward to the challenge of racing on the mighty St.Lawrence River.”
The regatta was originally scheduled for last June but high water conditions forced a postponement.
McCarney says there will be non-stop racing from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and there’s no admission fee.
