Blake Shelton, Usher perform ‘Stand By Me’ for ‘Hand In Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Relief’

Blake Shelton joined forces with Usher, his one-time fellow coach on The Voice, for Tuesday’s “Hand in Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Relief” broadcast in an emotional performance for the star-studded benefit special, simulcast on all the U.S. TV networks.

Appearing together in Nashville, the seemingly unlikely duo delivered an undeniably moving performance of the Ben E. King classic, backed by a small band that blended country with R&B as the pair traded verses before unleashing some killer harmonies for the chorus.

The special, which kicked off with Stevie Wonder delivering a soulful cover of Bill Withers’ Lean on Me, ultimately raised $14 million to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Among the stars to lend their time to this fundraising effort was Beyoncé, who appeared in a taped message urging people to do what they can to help those who lost their homes in her hometown of Houston.

In addition to the numerous stars in attendance in L.A., New York, Nashville and San Antonio, also turning in a prerecorded messages were Toronto’s own Drake, Will Smith and Texas native Selena Gomez.
