A civilian guard from a western Alberta RCMP detachment has been charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident earlier this month.
Evansburg RCMP arrested and charged 69-year-old John Hansen of Sangudo, Alta., with sexual assault and breach of trust on Sept. 8.

Mounties said the charges stem from allegations of an offence three days earlier, on Sept. 5, while Hansen was on guard duty at the Evansburg detachment.

Hansen appeared at Evansburg Provincial Court the morning of Sept. 11.
Police said they would not be providing further comment.
Evansburg is 90 kilometres west of Edmonton.
