The federal government is expected to make a major funding announcement in Edmonton Friday for fundamental research in the natural sciences and engineering.
The government said the funds will include grants to established and early-career researchers as well as scholarships to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows across Canada.

A government release stated “the investment will provide researchers with the foundation they need to push the boundaries of discovery and innovation while strengthening a culture of curiosity and diversity in Canadian science.”
Infrastructure and Communities Minister Amarjeet Sohi will be make the announcement at the University of Alberta at 11 a.m.
