Organizers behind this year’s Lindsay Exhibition hope a new layout is going to draw attention to the Ex’s agricultural focus.

Last year, Stoddart said, organizers took a long hard look at what was working at the Ex, and what wasn’t.

And the old layout, he said, had to go.

In previous years, the Midway took centre stage, with children’s and agricultural activities spread out through the rest of the fairgrounds. Stoddart said that meant a lot of walking for families with small kids.

This year all children’s activities are grouped together and are closer to the major agricultural exhibits.

“Rather than having to walk to the far end and then over to the woof jocks, we’re going to have the woof jocks, the pony rides, the new fishing frenzy all exhibited, all right up here, close to the common wealth building, close to the Agriculture pavillion,” Stoddart said.

But that’s not the only reason for the new layout.

Now guests coming through the front gate will have to tour through the agricultural exhibits in order to reach the rides.

“So people can actually have that experience, and to hear, and to see, what agriculture is all about,” said Lindsay Agricultural Society president Evelyn Chambers.

The Lindsay Ex runs from Sept. 20 to Sept. 24.
