Slow down in school zones – reduced speed limits are now in effect in Saskatoon.
School zone speed limits are 30 km/h from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Mondays to Fridays, including stat holidays.

There are new zones in the city with the opening of four new joint-use schools in Stonebridge, Hampton Village, Evergreen and Rosewood.
Driver’s caught speeding face a hefty fine.
“Exceeding the speed limit in a school zone starts off at $210 and there’s a number of other fines, such as making a U-turn in a school zone,” said Saskatoon police Supt. Brian Shalovelo, adding the fine for making a U-turn starts at $90.
Police issued over 250 school zone speeding tickets during the 2016-17 school year and enforcement measures will be in place throughout the year.

The reduced speed is also to ensure the safety of students.
“It is really important to remember this is children and in these new zones these kids haven’t been here before they may not be familiar with how the school zones are configured,” stated Dave LeBoutillier, a transportation engineer with the city.
“All it takes to reduce your speed in a school zone is an additional 12 seconds of travel time; something we can all make time to do.”
School zones are marked by reflective, fluorescent yellow-green signs.
