Canada dominates fan event WonderCon

TORONTO – There will be plenty of Canadian creativity at this year’s WonderCon, running March 29 to 31 in Anaheim, California.

The first two episodes of Toronto-filmed NBC series Hannibal will be screened at the popular fan event, as well as footage from the made-in-Toronto Netflix series Hemlock Grove.

Starring Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, Hannibal premieres on NBC on April 4. Hemlock Grove, which stars Alberta native Landon Liboiron, debuts on Netflix on April 19.

The first episode of sci-fi drama series Orphan Black, also filmed in Toronto, will be screened at WonderCon.

The weekend event also includes a screening of yet to be aired episodes of the made-in-Vancouver series Arrow, featuring an appearance by its star, Toronto actor Stephen Amell.

Toronto-shot feature film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, due in cinemas Aug. 23, will be previewed at WonderCon, including a panel with stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Canada’s Kevin Zegers.

Also taking part in a panel at the convention is director Guillermo del Toro, whose made-in-Toronto epic Pacific Rim opens in July.

Vancouver’s Seth Rogen is set to present a new trailer for his upcoming apocalyptic comedy This Is The End.

Toronto-born actress Sarah Carter will take part in a panel to promote Falling Skies, a Vancouver-shot series.

There will also be a sneak peek at the new series Under the Dome, featuring Montreal’s Rachelle Lefevre.
