After being labeled “dysfunctional” by the Ontario Civilian Police Commission last year, the Peterborough Police Services Board will soon hear the recommendations of a special administrator.
Criminal defence lawyer Mark Sandler was brought in to investigate the board’s operations after the OCPC labeled the board as dysfunctional. After seven months, Sandler said his goodbyes on July 1 to members of the police board, assuring them the board was in compliance with the Police Services Act and its regulations.
Sandler has prepared a report that outlines how the board brought itself in line with the provincial standards and makes recommendations for the future.
“It will set out my recommendations and it will also briefly address some of the misinformation and some of the false public narratives that have been circulated and had the potential of unfairly undermining the public confidence in the force, the chief and the deputy chief,” he said.
The report will be available for public consumption on Aug. 1.
