London police have made an arrest after a Tim Hortons in the city’s south end was held up by a sledgehammer-wielding suspect.
The incident happened at around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Police say a man entered the shop at 915 Commissioners Rd. E. near Adelaide Street, jumped over the counter holding the sledgehammer and demanded cash from a female employee.

Police say he took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers weren’t able to find the suspect when they arrived on scene, but video surveillance footage gave them a detailed description of the individual.
London police’s Foot Patrol unit arrested the man around 12 p.m. the same day, after recognizing him near Dundas Street and Clarence Street.

A 25-year-old London man has been charged with armed robbery, assault with a weapon, and obstructing a peace officer.
The female employee at Tim Hortons was not injured in the robbery.
