Grace Robotti has been handed a life sentence for killing the mother of her great-grandson, Roxanne Louie.
Justice Dev Dley delivered the sentence in B.C. Supreme Court in Kelowna early Tuesday afternoon.
The 67-year-old Penticton woman has no chance of parole for 10 years.
She was convicted of 2nd degree murder in the killing of Louie earlier this month.

Just prior to being sentenced, Robotti had a chance to address the court.

“I’ve just worked all my life to be supportive of family and friends,” Robotti said. “If I could turn back the clock I would. I have to believe that Roxanne’s spirit is at peace and in a good place.”
Louie was in Penticton in Jan. 2015 when an altercation over how the three-year-old boy should be cared for turned deadly.
Louie’s uncle, Dan Wilson, spoke to media at Tuesday’s sentencing hearing.
“We just want people to know that Roxanne was a very loving person, a very beautiful person,” Wilson said. “Her son, everything revolved around her son.”
Robotti’s brother, Pier Robotti, was given a 27 month prison term after pleading guilty to the charge of indignity to a body. He was given a three month credit for time already served.
He too had an opportunity to address the court.
“I terribly regret and am sorry for the events of that night,” Pier Robotti said.
