WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed veteran long snapper Chad Rempel to a two-year contract extension.
Rempel was set to become a free agent in February. The Canadian has played 37 games with the Bombers since joining the team in 2015.
“Without question, one of the most underrated roster spots in football is the position in which Chad excels at,” said Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters in a statement.
“He is excellent at his craft and is extremely knowledgeable in regards to special teams. With Chad, we don’t have to think twice about a big piece of our kicking game.”
Rempel has dressed in 172 CFL games over 12 seasons with the Bombers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He also spent a season with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
With Rempel’s extension, the Bombers now have 20 players who can become free agents on Feb. 14, 2017.
