A heartless thief took advantage of an injured, elderly woman to steal her purse.
Kelowna RCMP say the 76-year-old victim slipped on ice Thursday morning in the rear parking lot of the Save-On-Foods store at the Plaza 33 Shopping Centre in Rutland.
While the woman was on the ground yelling for help, a man took her purse.
Police believe the thief then went inside the store to report the fall to staff before leaving the area with the purse.
The suspect is described as:
· Caucasian male
· 25-35 years of age
· 5 ft 7 in to 5 ft 9 in tall
· slender build
· wearing blue jeans, a black hoody, a grey and orange winter jacket and carrying a black backpack along with the green, blue, white and black purse
The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital for injury assessment.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Aaron Dermake of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or call Crime Stoppers.
