Increased enrolment and additional funding from the B.C. Ministry of Education have helped keep two North Okanagan-Shuswap schools open.
Silver Creek and Armstrong elementary schools will not be closed following a decision at a meeting with official trustee Mike McKay Tuesday in Salmon Arm.
Parents, students and teachers are happy with the news.
Other schools facing changes in the district will be studied by a steering committee.
McKay was appointed by the province after the board was fired due to dysfunctional behaviour.
