Calgary police have multiple people in custody and are searching for a possible witness following the homicide of a teen over the weekend.

Police were called to the northeast community of Monterey Park  at around 7:40 p.m. Saturday. Investigators said the caller reported hearing a loud noise at a home in the 0-100 block of San Diego Way and was concerned about whether anyone inside the home was hurt.

Officers weren’t able to locate anyone in the residence at the time, but received information about a possible homicide at the location the next day.

Neighbours in Monterey Park said two or three young men live in the house.

“These guys kind of kept to themselves,” Joshua Paul, who lives next door, said. “There were a lot of people coming in and out but I don’t know what was going on.”

Syrus George and his family live across the street from the residence.

“They say, ‘Hey hi and bye’ to me. That’s the only thing I know,” George said. “Except (for) that home, everyone is very family oriented.

“An investigation began that involved a number of police resources in an attempt to corroborate the details provided, and locate the man believed to have been harmed,” police said in a release Tuesday night.

The investigation led officers to a home in the 100 block of Dover Tree Place S.E., where four men were taken into custody and two vehicles were seized.

Police searched both properties and vehicles and were eventually led to a remote area just north of Morley. That’s where the body of a 17-year-old male was found Monday.
