The Hamilton Theatre in Hamilton, Ont., has been getting an earful from Donald Trump supporters on Twitter after a cast member of the popular Broadway musical Hamilton read a statement to Vice President-elect Mike Pence following a show he attended on Friday night.
Actor Brandon Victor Dixon told Pence after the curtain call that multiracial and multicultural cast is concerned about the Trump administration.

“We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” said Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, the nation’s third vice-president.
“We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”

What soon followed was not only condemnation from President-elect Donald Trump, who asked for a public apology on Twitter, but from some of his supporters who mistakenly directed the criticism towards the wrong Twitter handle — @HamiltonTheatre instead of @HamiltonMusical.
And it didn’t take long for social media users to point out the error.
“Morons. Wrong ‘Hamilton’ you are venting at!,” Judy Woolven tweeted.
“Not sure Hamilton, Ontario, Canada is going to be shedding a tear,” @CanadaIsBack posted.
Dixon told CBS This Morning on Monday that “there’s nothing to apologize for” and both Trump and Pence are welcome to come back stage and meet with the cast at any time, adding, “Art is meant to bring people together.”
