One person is dead following a shooting on Washmill Lake Drive near Clayton Park in Halifax.
Police responded to a shots fired call shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
As of 8:30 p.m. on Saturday the body of the deceased could be seen lying on the ground underneath a tarp in the parking between two condominium buildings – 610 and 650 Washmill Lake Drive. The entire area was cordoned off.

Residents of the “Crown on Regency” apartments at 610 Washmill Lake Drive were not permitted to enter the building until shortly after 8 p.m. as armed police officers searched the building due to the possibility that those involved may have been inside.

Police confirm they have “several people” in custody, including some witnesses.
At this time officers will not released any information about the name, age or gender of the deceased.
A K-9 unit, as well as heavily armed police officers continue to hold a large scene as they process evidence at the site. They are expected to remain there “into the early hours.”
The investigation is ongoing.
