Two suspects dressed as clowns caught chasing people down Winnipeg streets

WINNIPEG — Two 17-year-olds were taken in to custody after a clown incident in Winnipeg Saturday evening.

On Saturday evening around 8 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service responded to a suspicious incident at the 200 block of Antrim Road in Valley Gardens.

Officers were told two suspects were dressed in clown costumes and chasing people in the area. Officers said there were suspicions one may have been armed.

As far as officers know they said the three victims or complainants in this matter were all teenagers.

Following this report, two 17-year-old men were found with clown-like masks and a large flashlight near the 700 block of Kimberley Avenue.

The two were arrested and in custody but charges were not pursued. They were cautioned by officers about their actions.

The Winnipeg Police Service is again reminding people that while it may not be illegal to dress as a clown, police may charge a person criminally if there are ground to believe they committed acts of mischief, or threatened, assaulted, or harassed others.
