A new poll by Mainstreet Postmedia shows Kelley Moore is leading the race to be mayor of Saskatoon.

New numbers out Thursday morning show Moore now has 27 per cent of decided voters, a gain of five percentage points.

Don Atchison meanwhile, has dropped to 25 per cent support, down one percentage point.

Support for Charlie Clark has remained unchanged at 23 per cent.

However, the poll cautions there are still many undecided voters, and plenty of room for movement as the vote approaches.

University of Saskatchewan political studies professor Joe Garcea said that “in some elections there’s clear and strong support for one party or one candidate,” which can drive down the undecided ratio. That isn’t the case in this election, with three candidates almost evenly splitting the decided vote.

“The question is, what are they undecided about? What is making it difficult for them to make a choice,” Garcea said of the undecided voters.

“Is it because the candidates are fairly comparable or is it because they really haven’t seen anything particularly attractive or offensive from any of the candidates that will make them vote one way or another.”

Election day in Saskatoon is on Oct. 26.
