A new owner is expected to breathe new life into the long shuttered glass plant in Lavington.

Don Kassa, the realtor who listed the 91.7 acre property on Hill Drive, said the sale closed on Friday.

Kassa wouldn’t disclose the exact sale price. He would only say that the local buyer paid less than the asking price which was $5-million.

“The sale is completed. He is going to have some sort of manufacturing there. I think it is very positive,” said Kassa.

“This time just at the eleventh hour we had all sorts of people interested and a couple people who were quite disappointed they actually missed out on it. The fellow who has purchased it made a sincere effort. He’s been interested for a long time. He’s got some great ideas and I think it will be wonderful for the community,” said Kassa.

Around 300 people were out of work when the plant closed in 2008.
