A local Toronto band is showing their love for the Toronto Blue Jays – particularly for starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.

Sportsfan is the name of the band and their latest single, “Stroman,” was released on YouTube Tuesday.

Lead singer Ali Haberstroh says the song is a cheeky rock ballad about her secret crush on the Jays’ ace pitcher.

“We wrote this song ‘Stroman’ about Marcus Stroman because we needed a baseball song if our band was going to be called Sportsfan,” she said.

“He is the biggest dreamboat on the team for sure.”

The band’s bass player, Cory Henderson, grew up with baseball — and even had his bedroom decked out like a field of dreams.

“I played baseball as a kid before I really got into music,” Henderson said.

“I went on a trip with my dad and my mom and my grandmother re-did my room and even the plug in outlets had little baseball lines on them so they looked liked baseballs. It was pretty great.”

The band hopes Marcus Stroman himself will take a look at their music video.

They’ve never met the star pitcher, but it certainly would make for a dream catch.

Haberstroh tells Global News if she ever gets to meet Stroman, she would try to play it cool.

“I feel like in the song I could come across as a bit fanatic,” she said. “But I would just want to chill and watch baseball.”
