Transgender actress Alexis Arquette dead at age 47

Actress Alexis Arquette died on Sunday morning while listening to David Bowie’s Star Man, according to a post on Facebook from her brother.

Richmond Arquette said the actress died while “surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, one of his nieces and several other loved ones.”

Alexis, who was born Robert, is also the sister of actors David, Patricia and Rosanna Arquette.

“Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, who became our brother Alexis, passed this morning September 11, at 12:32 am.”

So far, there’s no cause listed for her death, though Richmond writes that he was “immensely grateful that it was fast and painless.”

Alexis, who was known for playing a Boy George impersonator in the Wedding Singer among other movies, documented her transition to a woman in the 2007 film Alexis Arquette: She’s my brother.

Patricia paid tribute to her sister early Sunday morning, tweeting out the video to Bowie’s Star Man with the caption “Breaking through the veil.”
