A 31-year-old Kelowna woman has been taken to hospital after she fell and injured herself rock climbing near Crawford Falls.

A group of hikers heard her screams for help and while they could see the injured woman down below, they couldn’t get to her, but immediately called 911.

Russ McCrone was climbing with the woman, who is named Christina.

He says she fell about 40 feet and was “holding her hip” after falling.

It took more than two hours for emergency crews to rescue the woman. Because of where she was located she had to be removed via helicopter and was taken out in a long-line basket.

A witness says she saw the climbers in an area that is clearly marked out of bounds.
