Keith Wiens has always maintained he was acting in self-defence when he shot an enraged Lynn Kalmring in August 2011, as she advanced on him with a knife, but evidence at trial suggested the knife was placed in Kalmring’s hand after she was shot in the face.
Wiens was sentenced to life behind bars with no parole for at least 13 years, but his appeal of the sentence is continuing.
