Lynn Kalmring’s family reacts to the guilty verdict
Less than seven hours into deliberations, a verdict has been reached in the Keith Wiens murder trial.
The retired RCMP officer has been found guilty of second degree murder in the August 2011 death of his common-law wife in their Penticton home.
Wiens admitted to shooting 55-year-old Lynn Kalmring in the face during an argument, but claimed self-defence, saying she was attacking him with a knife.
The prosecution contended Wiens pulled the trigger in a fit of anger after Kalmring threatened to leave him.
The jury is recommending Wiens serve 20 years before he’s eligible for parole.
