KELOWNA — It’s the case of the dueling pathologists as the Keith Wiens murder trial continues at the Kelowna Law Courts, where a defence pathologist is contradicting the testimony of a prosecution pathologist.
Their evidence pertains to a knife found in Lynn Kalmring’s hand after she was fatally shot in the couple’s Penticton home about two years ago.

Dr. William Currie previously told the jury that after death blood patterns on the skin revealed Kalmring’s knife hand had been moved ‘after’ she died.
But today, Dr. John Butt, testifying for the defence, says it’s his opinion Kalmring’s hand had ‘not’ been moved. The issue is critical because Wiens claims he shot his wife after she came at him with a knife. The Crown contends Wiens placed the knife to stage a self-defence scenario.
The trial is nearing the end of the evidence portion, with final submissions by the defence and crown lawyers expected later this week.
