Police say the boy was wading in the river with his older brother when he slipped into deep, fast moving water and went under.
They say the elder brother tried to help him, but struggled in the current and had to be rescued himself.
A police dive team eventually recovered the body of younger boy around 10:30 Saturday night.
They say the boy had been visiting relatives in the area with his family.
Police say the name of the deceased will not be released while their investigation is ongoing.
