Two women were seriously injured after being hit by a car in the community of Quarry Park on Tuesday.
It happened along Quarry Park Boulevard just after 9 p.m.
Police said the victims were walking on the sidewalk when the driver of a BMW M6 apparently lost control of her vehicle, hitting both pedestrians and also a small tree.
The victims, believed to be in their 30s, were rushed to hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition.
Witnesses told Global News it appeared the driver was leaving a nearby car show when the incident happened.
“They were leaving the show and they turning left at the lights… and it sounded like they were doing some stunting – maybe some burnouts or maybe some fast accelerations – and the girl who was driving lost control and came up to the sidewalk there,” Evan Riegel said.
Police said charges are pending against the 20-year-old driver.
