The Toronto Blue Jays have added speed and power to their lineup with the acquisition of San Diego Padres outfielder Melvin Upton Jr., the club officially announced on Tuesday.
The trade deal, which also comes with cash considerations, will cost the Jays Class A pitching prospect Hansel Rodriguez.
Upton Jr. has been linked to the Blue Jays as a potential trade option for the past couple of weeks.
