“We had a very significant response to this incident. We took it very seriously. We even engaged our air services, RCMP helicopters, our plain clothes unit and our general investigations unit. So we have several resources working on this investigation,” Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey said.

Mounties say the victim, who is known to police, was shot in a lower limb and was taken to the hospital by a witness.

RCMP say no one has been arrested and are not releasing any details about a suspect.

Police are searching for a lowered, grey full-sized GMC SUV, which may have been involved in the incident.

The investigation is in the early stages, but RCMP do not think this was a random attack.
