WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets signed restricted free agent forward Brandon Tanev.
Tanev, 24, agreed to a one-year, two-way contract worth $874,125 if he’s playing in the NHL. He originally signed with the Jets as a free agent out of Providence College in March.
Tanev appeared in three games with the Jets but failed to register a point. He helped the Friars win the 2015 NCAA Men’s Hockey Championship, scoring the game winning goal in the championship game. In 38 games with Providence last season he registered 15 goals and 13 assists.
Brandon is the younger brother of Vancouver Canucks’ defenceman Chris Tanev, who played one season with the Manitoba Moose in 2010-2011.
