Another witness took the stand Tuesday. Giesbrecht’s maid of honour, Heather MacQuarrie, said her and Giesbrecht have been friends since they were teenagers. She said she only found out Giestbrecht was pregnant with her eldest son (who cannot be named due to a publication ban) the day after he was born. She said when she found out about the baby she was “very” surprised and thought maybe Giesbrecht was scared.

“I didn’t know she was pregnant,” said MacQuarrie. “I remember I asked her why she didn’t tell me and she said she thought she had more time.”

MacQuarrie said the their friendship ended in 2010 and the two only recently spoke again a few times. When Crown attorney Sharyl Thomas questioned her about why she never asked her about the incident from 2014 MacQuarrie said, “I didn’t want to talk about anything other then the past… it was uncomfortable talking about it.”

The witness also said she never knew about a pregnancy or the alleged relationship with Morrissey at the time.

Jeremy Giesbrecht, Andrea’s husband, is expected to testify on Wednesday before trial takes another  month long hiatus.
