TORONTO – The Toronto Raptors have confirmed that they have signed free-agent forward Jared Sullinger.

The deal is widely reported to be for one year at the mid-level exception of US$5.6 million. Sullinger had already announced he was joining the Raptors on his Twitter account on Monday.

The six-foot-nine, 260-pound former Celtic is a capable rebounder, but has struggled with his fitness.

The six-foot-nine, 260 pounder averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in 81 games with Boston last season.

He will be looking to shore up a Raptors frontcourt that lost centre Bismack Biyombo and power forward Luis Scola to free agency.

The Raptors are expected to announce a new contract for all-star guard DeMar DeRozan later Thursday.
