Romanian traveler identified as Skaha Lake drowning victim

A 33-year-old man visiting the Okanagan from Romania with a friend has been identified as the man who drowned in Skaha Lake on July 3, 2016.

He was Flaviu Attila Struczul, of Satu Mare, Romania.

Struczul was camping at Skaha Lake with friends from the lower mainland.

About 1:45 p.m. on July 3, he was paddle-boarding on the lake, and was seen falling off the board after being hit by a gust of wind.

Witnesses noticed he was in trouble in the water, and emergency crews were called.

Struczul was found about 20 minutes later in about two metres of water.

He was rushed to Penticton Regional Hospital, but he did not survive.

The BC Coroners Service continue to investigate.
