Nova Scotia RCMP lay charges days after Hillsburn arson suspect shot

RCMP have laid several charges against an Annapolis Royal man after a bizarre shooting incident earlier this week in Hillsburn, N.S.

Officers were called to a home in Hillsburn early Monday morning after reports a man had a gun. The man was also a suspect in an arson that happened earlier in the evening and destroyed a home and RV.

Police say when they arrived on scene, a man threatened them with a stolen truck, at which point RCMP officers shot at and injured the man.

He was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his torso.

RCMP have now laid charges against 55-year-old Jeffrey Luke Gregory, including:

  • Two counts of attempted murder
  • Dangerous driving
  • Arson with disregard for human life
  • Arson causing damage to property

Police would not say whether Gregory was still in hospital.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Annapolis Royal provincial court on July 14.

The province’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the incident.
