Fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire in southeast Calgary at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
One house was fully engulfed on Prestwick Terrace in McKenzie Towne.
There was some initial concern that the fire would spread to the next house but fire officials got it under control at around 6 p.m. and say there was just minor damages to the adjacent garages and their siding.
Roads were blocked off in the area while crews battled the blaze.
The Calgary Fire Department said the most damage to the home appeared to be on the deck and in the garage.
“There was no one home at the time and I believe there’s two cats unaccounted for, but that doesn’t mean they’re in the house,” Batalion Chief Al Magwood, with the Calgary Fire Department, said.”
No word yet on what caused the fire or where it started on the property.
Fire officials continue to investigate.
