Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency have expanded the burn ban currently in place across the region to include the use of consumer fireworks.
The expansion and reminder to municipality residents comes on the heels of a very busy weekend for fire officials, who responded to 64 illegal burn calls.
All 64 complaints are being investigated and could result in charges.
If charged, offenders could face a fine of $412 for a first offence.
There has been a burn ban in place in Nova Scotia since last Friday, June 24.
The ban includes no wood burning of any kind; that also extends to the use of chimeneas.
Propane or natural gas fire pits, and charcoal barbecues are allowed.
