WINNIPEG — Country Music star Garth Brooks took a little break from his four concerts in three days in Winnipeg to spend some time with some 60 boys and girls from Winnipeg.

Brooks spoke to the kids in his Teammates for Kids Foundation and ProCamp Saturday afternoon at Notre Dame Recreation Centre.

“The fact that one of these kids might become a hockey player. One in a million like these guys. But the fact that they’re going to become young men and young women and we want to do our part to introduce love in their life right now,” said Brooks on why he’s been a part of this for 12 years.

Teammates for Kids has helped provide scholarships for underprivileged children, which has then in turn helped them to attend ProCamps Sports Camps.

The ProCamps vary on sports, but in Winnipeg it was a Garth Brooks Teammates Ball Hockey ProCamp with Brooks, joined by Quinton Howden from the Florida Panthers. Brooks kicked it off with a little pep talk and words of encouragement for the boys and girls ages 9-13 before the camp started.
