The first call came in Thursday around 6 p.m. CT for a garage fire at 3113 Milton St.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire at the garage in the lane, which was quickly put out.

The fire did not extend into the garage, but did burn parts of a fence and the siding on the garage.

Damage is estimated at $2,000. The cause has been deemed undetermined.

Then Friday around 4:30 a.m., firefighters were called to 128 8th St. E. for reports of smoke in a house.

Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. It took just under 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Five people had evacuated the home and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Damage is estimated at $10,000.

Around 20 minutes later, firefighters were called to 1110 Emerald Way after the homeowner called 911 saying his deck was on fire.

The first crews to arrive were met by the homeowner who said they had put out the fire. Firefighters investigated to make sure the fire had been extinguished.

A fire investigator determined the cause to be rags containing linseed oil that had been left on the deck.

Officials say rags containing linseed oil can generate their own heat and will ignite if not stored properly. Air must be allowed to circulate around the rags.

Damage is estimated at $2,000.
