WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes bounced back from their first home loss of the season.
The Goldeyes defeated the visiting Sioux Falls Canaries 3-2 on Wednesday at Shaw Park despite being held to just three hits.
Winnipeg starting pitcher Duke Von Schamann picked up his first win of the season, improving to 1-1. He allowed just two runs, both earned, and gave up only seven hits while he struck out four Canaries’ batters.

The Goldeyes scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning. Josh Romanski doubled home Maikol Gonzalez from first base for the club’s first run of the game. Two throwing errors by the Canaries on the same play lead to the other two Goldeyes’ runs.

Jailen Peguero struck out two of the three batters he faced and pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save of the season.

Frank Martinez hit his second home run of the year for Sioux Falls in the loss.
The Goldeyes and Canaries close out their four game series on Thursday with the game scheduled to begin at 11:00am.
