Calgary police believe alcohol may have been a factor in a late-night incident across from North Hill Shopping Centre that led to a police cruiser being rammed.
Investigators were called to the Blaskin and Lane Tire Centre in the 1600 block of 16 Avenue N.W. at around 12:45 a.m. on Thursday.

When they arrived, officers found a vehicle that had been reported stolen. It had hit the side of the tire shop. The vehicle then rammed a police cruiser while fleeing the scene.

Officers were able to catch up with the vehicle when it later crashed into a power pole.
Investigators said the suspect ran from the vehicle but was chased down by police, with the help of the canine unit and HAWCS helicopter.
Charges are pending.
