Big Brother Canada housemates send Jared packing
Jared Kesler was the latest 'Big Brother Canada' housemate to be evicted after being losing in a vote to Nikki on Thursday night – Apr 29, 2016

Jared Kesler was an absolute favourite to win Season 4 of Big Brother Canada. He was excellent at challenges, he had amazing social game, and he was strategic in his moves.

Cassandra, seizing an opportunity to take out a major player in the game, made Jared the replacement nominee when the brothers were able to get themselves off the block in the POV competition — and that’s all she wrote.

Global News spoke to Jared post-eviction, and he told us who he thinks is most responsible for his eviction, why Kelsey voted for him in the end and the hardest thing to deal with in the BBCAN house.

Global News: How shocked were you to be evicted?
Jared Kesler: I wasn’t too shocked because I knew I was a big threat in the game, I was just disappointed that it was Cassandra who put me up.

As far as the vote went down, were you expecting that breakdown of votes?
I was expecting it to be a tie and to come down to Cassandra, and to be honest, I didn’t want her to give me any reasons why she wanted me out of the house.

So you asked your allies for help with that?
Correct. I asked my allies to save me some embarrassment. Save face. I really couldn’t protect myself in that situation so I just wanted to out of the house in that moment.

Do you think you could have gone all the way?
I think all of us had that mentality, all of us were good at different things. I played the game the only way I knew how to play. I had a lot of trust in people who I thought had my back. May the best man win.

Dallas was coming after you pretty vocally. Did you ever feel like it was going to be too much hassle to get to the end?
It was very difficult. I think Dallas started a trend, and then the following three people used my name as they were walking out of the house, as a last-ditch effort to save themselves. I’m really proud of myself for making it as far as I did, with the size of the target on my back.

You can really see how you could have easily won this game, so Cassandra is actually pretty smart for getting you out when she could. No?
She’s very smart for doing so, but by the same token, I’m very naive for thinking that she wouldn’t do something to me just because I wouldn’t do it to her. My trust in her was my biggest downfall this week, and I was too comfortable.

You’ve already answered this, but: who or what do you think is most responsible for your eviction?
Cassandra is definitely most responsible, but it’s also my fault because a) I didn’t put more effort in during the POV competition, and b) really feeling too confident and safe in my relationships with people. It’s a very individual game at the end of the day.

LOOK: Meet the Big Brother Canada houseguests

Do you have any regrets?
Absolutely none. I don’t regret anything I said and did in the house.

What was the hardest thing to deal with in the BBCAN house?
Being away from loved ones, that’s for sure. It was difficult walking into a room and then everyone stops talking — you know they’re talking about you. It was high-stress all the time.

You also seemed to be heading up the clean-up crew in that house.
[Laughs] Yes. I felt like a father figure in that house. People didn’t like cleaning up after themselves. Christine and I pretty much led the charge when it came to that.

Any predictions on what’s going to happen and who’s going to take it all?
At this point, it’s anyone’s game. I think it’s going to come down to who wins these remaining challenges. The finish line is just around the corner, so the next couple of days are really going to shape who makes it to the end.
