Toronto’s landmark discount store, Honest Ed’s, had one of its iconic outdoor signs stolen last Friday and a $1,000 reward is now being offered for its return.
Russell Lazar, the store’s manager, said someone cut the lock attached to an outdoor frame and ran away with the sign that read “Honest Ed’s Pharmacy Professional Services Since 1960” in royal blue lettering.
“We at Honest Ed’s are very disappointed that his theft took place,” said Lazar.
The hand-painted wooden sign is described as seven feet high and three feet wide.

Lazar said police have been notified and an investigation is underway.
Demand for memorabilia from the discount store has been high since it was announced the location would close.
Hundreds lined up just over two years ago to get their hands on over 1,000 hand-painted signs that were up for auction.
The store, which first opened in 1948, is set to shut down at the end of the year to make way for a condo development.
