Edmonton police investigate deadly crash between street sweeper and motorcycle

EDMONTON – A 25-year-old man was killed and a 19-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle collided with a street sweeper in south Edmonton Monday night.

Police said the motorcycle was heading south on Calgary Trail when it collided with the street sweeper near 59 Avenue. It happened just after 9 p.m.

Police said the man was driving the motorcycle and the woman was the passenger.

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken the lead on the investigation to determine if excessive speed was a factor.

The man driving the street sweeper was not injured in the collision.

The victim’s name has not been released.
