After moving his latest album The Life of Pablo from its Tidal exclusivity, Kanye West has hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

West also made history by debuting at No. 1: TLOP is now the first album on the Billboard 200 to earn a top slot with a majority of its sales— in this case 70 per cent — as streaming albums.

TLOP was initially released as a Tidal exclusive on Feb. 13, and was only alternatively available for purchase on West’s personal site. At that time, it wasn’t possible to analyze sale numbers because they aren’t made available to Billboard.

Ever since April 1, when TLOP was made available via other streaming sites (it still lives, in part, on Tidal and KanyeWest.com), the album has been downloaded tens of thousands of times.

This marks history for West on a personal level as well, as this is his seventh straight album to debut at No. 1, following his last success in 2013 with Yeezy.

West has confirmed he will tour to support TLOP, claiming on Twitter that he’s “working on the tour designs.” He did not specify when the tour would take place, or what cities it would visit.
