EDMONTON – A weekend fire, in which a man jumped from the sixth-floor of a south Edmonton apartment building, was deliberately set and is now being investigated by police, an official with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said on Monday.
Fire crews were called to an apartment building at 24 Avenue and 106 Street at around 5 a.m. on Sunday after smoke could be seen billowing out of a window on the sixth floor.

The fire broke out in a suite and the man who jumped suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to the University of Alberta Hospital.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services said the flames were contained to one suite and damage is estimated at $105,000.
There is no update on the man’s condition.
